About the role:

Join the Investments and Pension Fund team, where we work to support CMHC’s goals for financial stability and housing affordability. We are looking for a portfolio manager who has experience managing private market investments. As an integral member of the Investments team, you will manage (along with the Director, Investments and Pension Fund) a diverse portfolio comprised of the Pension Fund’s real estate, infrastructure, other real assets, private debt and private equity investments. You will develop and implement investment strategies that are designed to outperform benchmarks and achieve investment objectives. This full-time permanent position is an exceptional opportunity within a dynamic and collaborative environment for an investment professional with excellent communication skills.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage assigned portfolios in accordance with the investment objectives and parameters defined by CMHC.
  • Monitor existing portfolio holdings and ensure compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.
  • Research potential investment opportunities, conduct complex risk-return analyses and present recommendations accordingly.
  • Develop, implement and document sound investment processes, policies and guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other institutional investors, asset managers, advisors and a wide range of other stakeholders.
  • Support the Director by providing guidance, mentoring and leadership to the team, and mobilize the team and resources to ensure that deliverables are met in a timely manner.
Required skills / Experience

What you should have:

  • An undergraduate degree in finance, business administration, commerce, economics or related field.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of demonstrated experience in managing private market portfolios in an institutional investment environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of investment and portfolio management principles.
  • The ability to interpret economic trends and market relationships.
  • A creative analytical ability and the ability to model investment and risk management strategies using sophisticated technological tools.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • An aptitude in leading and mentoring individuals to achieve a common objective.

It would be great if you also had:

  • A professional designation(s) in a related field, such as the chartered financial analyst (CFA) designation or other relevant licence, designation or certification.
  • Bilingualism (French and English)
