About the Role

In this role, the Principal, Funding, Liquidity, and Trading, will work in a dynamic environment amongst a small group of highly skilled investment professionals making investment decisions and managing risk in uncertain environments. The Funding, Liquidity and Trading group is responsible for all capital markets execution, funding and liquidity management, as well as the management of the Plan’s public markets exposures. The role provides an opportunity to gain expertise across all asset classes.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage global portfolios of derivative and cash securities across equity, foreign exchange, fixed income, credit and commodities within a risk allocation framework.
  • Execute trades in derivative and cash products as part of a cross-asset team.
  • Perform investment and trade related reporting, including commission, trade cost analysis, and other reporting as required.
  • Develop strong relationships with sell side trading firms.
  • Improve existing spreadsheets, processes and tools used by the trading desk.
  • Develop and implement tools and processes to support pricing, trading, portfolio management and risk management functions.
  • Actively participate in collaborative decision-making processes in the Capital Markets Group and at the Total Portfolio level regarding portfolio construction and risk management from a top-down and bottom-up perspective.
  • Serve as an asset class & markets specialist.
  • Work in close coordination with risk, finance, legal, middle office, compliance and other groups across the Total Fund.
  • Support and contribute to Total Fund projects and initiatives.
  • Proactively identify operational risks or control deficiencies in the business.
Required skills / Experience

What You Bring

  • A degree, preferably postgraduate, in business, finance, engineering, physics, mathematics, or computing.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant trading experience.
  • Broad knowledge of derivatives and financial products, from a trading, pricing and risk management perspective.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task under pressure while maintaining quality of work.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively communicate complex issues and build key working relationships.
  • Proven experience in programming abilities including Python, VBA, SQL.
  • A high attention to detail and process orientation.
  • Previous experience using Bloomberg an asset.
