Position description

THE ROLE 

This is an excellent opportunity for a friendly, keen and energetic professional to join a highly motivated team and make an impact.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Controls, the Analyst, Controls will work closely with the Public and Private Markets Investment teams, as well as Responsible Investing (RI), Legal, Tax and other business partners to support the External Managers transaction process. The Analyst, Controls will also assist in maintaining an effective document management framework, which includes data/information flow and measures to ensure accuracy and consistency across investment groups. From time to time, this role will play a crucial part in contributing to various User Acceptance Testing for internal systems.

The ideal candidate will provide analytical support, innovation, and continuous improvement for all processes within the External Managers Program. This dynamic role will offer opportunities to engage with senior leaders on controls discussions and external providers.

UPP has adopted a Hybrid Work Model which allows staff the flexibility to work remotely with the opportunity to work in person at the office ~2 days a week. Our office is located in downtown Toronto.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist in onboarding, and off-boarding of External Managers, which includes completion of pre-funding and post-funding requirements for new, follow-on & redemption transactions
  • Maintain transaction pipeline used for various internal reporting and coordinate team priorities and deadlines
  • Coordinate the Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQ) process for all External Managers, including tracking and filing of DDQs and attachments
  • Support the execution of the transaction documentation in an efficient and timely manner
  • Monitor and establish the investment attributes collection process with the internal and external stakeholders, and ensure internal repository is up to date in a timely manner
  • Assist in ad hoc requests and liaise with various internal stakeholders such as Legal, Investment Finance, Investments, as well as external stakeholders such as Managed Account Platforms (MAPs), External Managers and Administrators
  • Conduct various User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for internal systems, and effectively communicate to Business Analysts and Developers (internally or externally), for successful execution into production
  • Participate in internal or external calls, summarize action items, and provide support on projects and initiatives
  • Actively provide ongoing support and maintenance of applications such as Dynamo, Diligence Vault, and SharePoint to improve accuracy and reliability of data used across the organization for reporting and workflow management to enable data analytics & insights
  • Other duties as required
Required skills / Experience

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Minimum of two years college degree with some relevant professional experience or recently completed an undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics or Business with some relevant internship experience
  • Prior industry experience in Investment Operations considered as an asset
  • Prior experience in document management and document flow/control considered as an asset
  • Excellent analytical and data management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated individual with the dedication to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity
