Position description

Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Prime Services in Toronto, Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
  • Contribute to overseeing Prime Service’s hedge fund client books for both securities lending and financing (cash and swap) to ensure profitability, consumption of resources, and risk profiles are being managed actively and within plan.
  • Contribute to smooth operation of our prime brokerage, securities lending, equity finance, and synthetic books in both Canada and LATAM.
  • Carry out the objectives, strategy and overall vision for the client experience and internal management of client accounts to ensure best in class service.
  • Collaborate with divisions both domestically and internationally to execute overall business strategy for hedge fund coverage and its role with Prime Services.
Required skills / Experience

What You’ll Bring:

  • Basic programming knowledge in commonly used languages (e.g. VBA, Python, SQL)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • This role requires successful completion of all relevant certifications and registrations which include but are not limited to: CSC, CPH, CIRO registration, SEC & CFTC AP registration
