Position description

Reporting to the Director, the Analyst, Origination is responsible for assisting on public/private equity and debt financing efforts as well as assisting in the development and distribution of other financial products. iA Capital Markets is a retail focused investment bank providing a suite of capital markets products and services to both our internal advisor network, and our public and private corporate clients with market capitalization between $25M-$100M.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting in the execution on a wide variety of transactions headed by senior members of the capital markets team;
  • Prepare materials and presentations to clients with respect to raising capital from public and private markets and other capital markets topics;
  • Developing and maintaining detailed financial models;
  • Participating in team discussions and client meetings to evaluate ideas and tailor solutions that deliver an impact for our clients;
  • Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders;
  • Handling general day-to-day client requests and inquiries as well as maintaining databases; and
  • Ability to undertake broader work or accountabilities and support capital markets teams
Required skills / Experience

Education & Qualifications:

  • Relevant education. Undergraduate degree, alongside professional accounting, corporate finance or  investment banking work experience; CFA and/or CPA designations optional but beneficial. All applicants are required to submit both their resume and their transcript in order to be considered for the position.
  • Knowledge of corporate finance, accounting and financial modeling (including preparation of 3-statement forecast models).
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership for customer service and be a self-starter who is motivated internally to set high standards of performance.
  • Work well in a collaborative environment with success maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Excellent oral and written communicator as well as a visual eye for presentation.
  • Structured approach to prioritizing and ensuring that multiple priorities and customer needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Ability to thrive in a hands-on entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical abilities, strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced spoken and written French and English skills and exceptional team attitude.

 

Specific skills & abilities or areas of knowledge:

  • Proficiency with Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Utilizes tools and data at their disposal to improve productivity and efficiency of day-today activities.
