Position description

Corporate Banking Overview:
The CB Summer Analyst program is designed for candidates between their third and fourth year of an undergraduate degree. Summer analysts will gain valuable experience and exposure to a wide number of industries from May to August.  In addition to this on-the-job experience, the program includes the opportunity to network across various business groups, learn about the culture of BMO Capital Markets, participate in training and learning seminars, and obtain career guidance from dedicated mentors.  This position is ideally suited to talented, highly motivated individuals who seek to build a solid, comprehensive foundation in the basic skills of Corporate Banking.

  • Scholarship recipients receive an offer of paid employment for a 2026 Summer Analyst intern position at BMO Capital Markets in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary & Vancouver
  • Recipients will be paired with a Capital Markets professional to provide coaching and mentorship throughout their internship
  • Students receive formal and on-the-job training, opportunities to network and collaborate with other student interns, and access to ongoing professional development throughout their internship
  • Successful recipients of a $10,000.00 (CAD) scholarship award will receive their award via payment to their school’s financial aid office, to be applied to their tuition

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a student at an accredited Canadian Post Secondary Institution/University, currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with a graduation date of December 2026 or Spring 2027

  • You are available to work full-time from May-August 2026
  • You have a proven track record of excellent academic standing, extra curricular participation and demonstrated interest in finance
  • You are involved in diverse extra-curricular activities and community organizations
  • You are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or an individual who is legally authorized to work in Canada and will not require sponsorship in the future
  • You are not already receiving 100% tuition coverage from other sources and must have a current unmet need of $10,000 CAD or more
Required skills / Experience

Responsibilities:

  • Processing client requests (e.g. new credit facilities and extensions and/or amendments to existing credit facilities).
  • Completing annual / interim credit reviews.  Credit reviews include industry and financial analysis comprising of: operating performance, cash flow, leverage, coverage and liquidity, as well as capital-at-risk and other regulatory capital calculations.
  • Monitoring performance of portfolio companies against credit terms and conditions and identify changes in the financial condition of a client.
  • Preparing presentation materials and relationship profitability assessments, which involve liaising with other product and industry groups within BMO Capital Markets.
  • Performing other duties including industry and company-specific research, as well as ad hoc projects for senior professionals.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate business/accounting/finance program graduating in December 2026 or Spring 2027
  • Strong interest in finance and banking.
  • Outstanding academic achievement, leadership experience and peer recognition
  • Demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities.
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling skills.
  • Proficient in Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Detail oriented.
  • Highly motivated, fast learning and able to work with limited supervision and adapt to frequent market, systems, and process changes.
  • Outgoing and personable; team player able to work effectively in small groups.
  • Knowledgeable in the principles of finance and the financial markets. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous banking or credit risk management experience is an asset.
  • You are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or an individual who is legally authorized to work in Canada and will not require sponsorship in the future
