Position description

The Investment Banking Associate position at Paradigm Capital will appeal to highly motivated individuals who are interested in pursuing an investment banking career in an entrepreneurial and high-energy environment. Our lean and flat team structure will provide exposure to a wide variety of projects, working directly and learning from senior bankers. We are seeking candidates who have demonstrated a willingness to work against tight deadlines and perform under pressure. Candidates should have advanced technical and analytical abilities, excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as a positive, enthusiastic, and team-first attitude. As an Associate, you will actively participate in a variety of transactions ranging from M&A and Restructuring advisory to equity and debt financings across all industries. Associates are involved in every aspect of deal origination and transaction execution. Associates at Paradigm work with our senior bankers to manage live engagements and business development along with supervising and mentoring Analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in a wide variety of transactions led by senior members of the Investment Banking team
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of presentations for clients with respect to public and private capital raises, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and other capital markets items
  • Create and manage detailed financial models
  • Support deal origination and lead preparation of pitch books, proposals and other marketing material
  • Participate in due diligence sessions
  • Perform detailed qualitative and quantitative analyses across a range of industries
  • Attend client meetings alongside senior staff
  • Participate in such activities as recruiting and training
  • Wide range of other analytical tasks as required
Required skills / Experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years of full-time work experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, or other relevant experience
  • Strong financial and analytical skills in corporate finance analysis, including knowledge of accounting principles, all facets of valuation work, M&A and financial statement preparation and business combination analysis
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills
  • Well-developed organizational skills to respond to time management and shifting priorities on multiple projects
  • Demonstrated job commitment, as well as personal flexibility and adaptability required to meet firm and client needs
  • Ability to succeed in a team environment
  • Completion of, or enrollment as a CFA candidate is considered an asset
  • Experience with S&P Capital IQ, SNL, Bloomberg, and FactSet is required
