Position description

Job Description: Marketing & Communications Specialist 

The Marketing & Communications Specialist will collaborate closely with the Chief Marketing, Communications and Research Officer, senior management, and cross-functional colleagues to develop and execute marketing and communications plans across channels. This role encompasses content creation (social media, website, video), website management, social media management, and membership communication campaigns. Additionally, you will play a vital role in enhancing brand awareness and driving member engagement through impactful marketing initiatives.

Job Responsibilities and Duties 

Social Media Management & Measurement

  • Manage the organisation’s social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube), including content creation in partnership with VersaFi leaders, management of approvals, creation and maintenance of a planning calendar, and management of platform analytics.
  • Create, schedule, publish and measure organic and paid content across platforms. 
  • Administer tools to support social media management.
  • Develop short, member-focused videos for digital/social channels. 
  • Provide real-time social media coverage at events and programs.
  • Monitor social media trends, audience engagement; implement analytics and reporting.

Email Marketing and Member Communications

  • Generate content and collaborate with internal teams to produce newsletters and Job Board Digests.
  • Create and distribute targeted member e-blasts for events and programs.
  • Manage email marketing platforms (eg, Constant Contact), ensuring accurate list management and supporting content development

Website Management

  • Post and update website content, including articles, news releases, blogs, graphics, and stakeholder information. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external vendor to ensure smooth website functionality. Ensure all website content adheres to brand guidelines and organizational strategies. 

Public Relations and Media Support

  • Oversee press release distribution, and update website postings.
  • Maintain a media tracker and generate media coverage reports.
  • Monitor media activity; escalate as appropriate.

Event Support

  • Assist with event logistics, as required. 
  • Live social media updates during events and programs.
Required skills / Experience

Required Skills and Experience 

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, communications, business administration, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing, digital marketing, or social media management.
  • Proficient in Google environment, including experience with Google analytics. Proven experience managing social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube) using tools like Hootsuite and Linktree.
  • Strong content creation skills, including writing and proofreading for social media, email marketing, and website.
  • Experience in email marketing platforms (ie, Constant Contact or other) and audience segmentation.
  • Ability to create short-form video content for digital and social media platforms.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. 

Considered an asset: 

  • Experience in the finance industry and/or agency experience.
  • Experience in event support and live social media coverage is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/French).
