Position description

We are accepting recent or upcoming new graduates into the 18-month rotational program with a start date in May-July 2026.

Throughout the program, you will complete three six-month rotations across the following teams: Multi-Asset Portfolio Management, Public Equities, and Fixed Income. You will get the opportunity to work on special projects and gain valuable experience within the Investment Management space.

We are looking for individuals who are intellectually curious, adaptable, and responsible, with a desire to enhance their finance, data, programming, and communications skills. Daily tasks and projects will differ from team to team but overall, the Quantitative New Grad Analyst can expect to be involved in:

  • Developing analytical tools, automating workflows, and enhancing data infrastructure
  • Maintaining and improving existing models and spreadsheets
  • Developing new financial and quantitative models
  • Conducting quantitative analysis and research across financial markets, asset classes, and risk factors
  • Providing quantitative insights and analytics to portfolio managers and traders
  • Backtesting investment strategies and monitoring model performance
  • Supporting the implementation of new technologies and the modernization of business processes
  • Developing investment recommendations through modelling intrinsic valuations, identifying relative mispricing, and assessing macro trends
  • Supporting portfolio construction, optimization, and asset allocation processes
  • Learning about capital markets and investment strategies
  • Participating in several ad-hoc projects to gain working knowledge of AIMCo’s assets
  • Creating PowerPoint presentations
Required skills / Experience

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Recent or upcoming graduate in Statistics, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science or Engineering within the last 18 months.
  • Hands-on experience with programming languages – Python, SQL, VBA, Power BI
  • Proficiency in programming using large data sets
  • Strong statistical background and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced proficiency level with Microsoft Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Prior experience with conducting financial research, preferably using Bloomberg or Capital IQ is an asset.
  • Experience or exposure into one or more of the areas: data visualization, actuarial studies, CFA candidacy, student leadership experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of investments, economics, and asset management is an asset
  • Self-motivated and proactive. The ideal candidate should be eager to learn, able to take initiative, and willing to go the extra mile to deliver results.
