*The job level may vary depending on the profile of the selected candidate

Within the External Management team, Alternative Strategies within Liquid Markets, the person holding the position contributes to maximizing portfolio returns by participating in the selection, calibration and monitoring of external managers for alternative strategies – public markets (hedge funds, hedge funds).

What you will do

  • Contribute to and play a leading role in various projects or activities related to improving the team’s investment process and increasing the systematization of our portfolio monitoring tools;
  • Participate and actively contribute to the preparation and recommendation of files to the investment committee (screening; positioning document and recommendation);
  • To play a leading role in coordinating post-due diligence activities for our investments;
  • Participate in due diligence in a rigorous manner, using appropriate internal and/or external resources;
  • Analyze trends in the investment firms industry and maintain relationships with the various intermediaries in the investment firms industry;
  • To ensure the transmission of best industry management practices to CDPQ’s internal management teams;
  • Collaborating across departments with other teams within the Caisse (Asset Allocation, Stock Markets; Research; Risk; Legal, etc.).

What you bring

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the investment sector within international institutions or specialized firms;
  • Knowledge of the world of hedge fund strategies, portfolio management, derivatives and financial instruments;
  • Knowledge of the global macro universe is an asset;
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, economics, financial engineering, mathematics, or any other related discipline;
  • CFA, CAIA, FRM accreditations considered an asset;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Strong proficiency in tools commonly used in Finance (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg…);
  • Programming skills in Python, SQL or other, an asset;
  • Proficiency in French and English*, both spoken and written.

*Frequent interactions in English, both oral and written, with external partners based outside Quebec, such as service providers, law firms, peers, bankers, brokerage firms, credit analysis firms and credit agencies, etc.
