Reporting to the Senior Director, Performance & Analytics, the Senior Manager, Asset Class Performance leads a team that provides one-stop performance service on measuring, attributing and reporting on the performance of BCI asset classes and investment managers.
University degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or another discipline with a quantitative focus
CFA preferred; CIPM or FRM considered an asset
7+ years of progressive experience in financial services, with at least 5 years’ in performance/attribution/portfolio analysis and 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role
Solid understanding of complex institutional investment portfolios (e.g., derivatives/overlay, absolute return strategies, alternative investments, private markets) and their return sources; expert knowledge in industry-standard performance measurement and benchmarking practices
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply mathematical and quantitative techniques to gain insights
Inquisitive and growth mindset, with a can-do attitude and the ability to handle ambiguity and develop innovative solutions to overcome challenges
Broad understanding of technical/analytical tools, including Excel VBA, SQL, Power BI, and Python; experience with SimCorp considered an asset

Performance & Analytics serves as an authoritative source of performance information, playing a crucial role in supporting BCI’s investment strategy. By adopting a customer-centric structure, this branch of the Finance Department aligns its teams with the end customers they support, including Total Fund Performance, Asset Class Performance, Client Performance, and Performance Analytics & Support.
Build and lead a highly engaged team by attracting, developing, and retaining talent to achieve business objectives
Collaborates closely with investment managers across all asset classes to proactively identify and respond to evolving business needs, designing and developing innovative solutions to measure, attribute, and report on performance to support investment decision-making
Continuously evolves and optimizes existing processes, resolves issues in analytics and systems, and develops new analytics and attributions to enhance investment managers’ insights
Stays informed about new investment strategies, products, and emerging trends in the industry, conducting research on new performance methodologies and techniques
Applies portfolio and system knowledge to synthesize information from various sources, conceptualize and translate desired outcomes into actionable plans, balancing theoretical and practical considerations
Proactively identifies and manages operational and control risks, maintains and updates operating procedures and business continuity plans, ensuring all reports and processes meet audit and internal control requirements
Communicates performance results effectively to stakeholders with varying levels of understanding, articulating the meaning behind numbers and providing insightful analysis to inform decision-making

The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role is CAD $120,000 to $150,000.
The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.

We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.
