Position description

The Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation (CDCC) provides clearing and settlement services for all Montreal Exchange listed derivatives, select over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives, and Fixed Income products.

Reporting to the Manager, Business Operations, you are accountable for ensuring complete and timely processing of all workflows, as well as support for CDCC Clearing Members in areas such as:

  • Post trade derivatives clearing and settlement activities;
  • Margin and collateral processing (cash and securities);
  • Banking and Settlement including Payment Exchange, End of day final settlements with payment processing;
  • Customer Support throughout the various clearing cycles.

This role is hybrid (2 – 3 days/week in the office) – based in Montreal, QC.

Woking schedule: 7.5-hour rotating shift performed between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and until 11 p.m. on Fridays.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Act as the point of contact for matters related to Collateral/Banking/Clearing/Settlements to ensure effective and efficient client support is provided to all Members;
  • Maintain Collateral and Concentration Requirements including collecting Collateral to satisfy the margin calls via securities pledge or cash, managing customers’ timely flow of funds to/from CDCC;
  • Facilitate clearing CDCC member transactions for Montreal Exchange listed derivatives products.
  • Perform a daily Cash Reconciliation of the various currency accounts with CDCC Settlement Banks;
  • Ensure timely completion of the daily netting cycles, payment processing and settlements including Payment Exchange and End of Day obligations;
  • Ensure participants/members meet their trade settlement obligations;
  • Support the Montreal Exchange with client trade adjustments and new products/listings;
  • Provide guidance and solutions to internal teams and external clients;
  • Support the Business Continuity Program, Disaster Recovery Program, Default Simulation and other testing exercises;
  • Interact with Internal and External Audit, Regulators, Technology, Client Services, Risk, as well as internal departments;
  • Adhere strictly to internal procedures, rules, audit requirements and internal controls verification processes;
  • Recommend changes to existing processes, services and procedures to ensure excellent customer service, and that we operate in an efficient and effective environment;
  • Lead and assist with projects and special assignments including system configuration as required.
Required skills / Experience

Must haves:

  • Post-Secondary education in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, and/or Accounting is preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in the Securities Financial Industry
  • Solid experience/knowledge in Operations processes or Securities Accounting in the Securities Financial Industry
  • Advanced technical and analytical skills and ability to propose operational solutions and solve moderately complex problems specific to a project or assignment
  • Solid interpersonal and organization skills with the demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision, as well as a team player
  • Oriented to deliver with accuracy and clear & concise details in a time sensitive environment
  • Advanced level of technical and analytical knowledge regarding Collateral, Banking and Clearing/Settlements processes, systems and capabilities
  • Effective listening, written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility required to work in a time sensitive environment with tight deadlines
