About VersaFi

VersaFi is a national, non-profit organization focused on elevating women in the finance sector to advance prosperity for all. Founded in 1995 as Women in Capital Markets (WCM), the organization rebranded in 2024 as VersaFi. As Canada’s largest network of women, allies, and leading finance sector organizations, we champion talent at every stage of the career journey: empowering individuals and shaping leaders; transforming individual success into industry-wide impact; and advancing a stronger, more competitive finance sector for all. Our community has grown to over 4,000 members and 50 corporate partners across the country, representing the finance sector across banks, dealers, insurance companies, pension plans, regulatory agencies, exchanges, and advisory firms.

Position description

About the Role

VersaFi is seeking 2 volunteers to join the Calgary Steering Committee on the University Engagement subcommittee. This role is focused on strengthening connections with post-secondary students and building a pipeline of future talent in finance.

You will play a key role in expanding VersaFi’s presence across Calgary campuses by supporting mentorship program recruitment, building relationships with student groups and faculty, and contributing to student-focused events.

This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with Steering Committee members, national VersaFi staff, and local partners.

Key Responsibilities

Student Outreach & Partnerships

  • Build and maintain relationships with post-secondary institutions (universities, colleges, student associations, and career centres)
  • Act as a key point of contact for student engagement initiatives in the Calgary region
  • Identify opportunities to increase awareness of VersaFi programs on campus

Mentorship Program Support

  • Support recruitment efforts for the VersaFi Student Mentorship Program (both mentors and mentees)
  • Promote the program through campus networks and local partnerships
  • Help identify and engage student ambassadors where appropriate

Events & Programming

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of student-focused events (e.g., panels, networking sessions, career conversations)
  • Support 1–3 student engagement initiatives annually

Advocacy & Ambassadorship

  • Act as a VersaFi ambassador in the Calgary community
  • Leverage your network to increase visibility and participation in VersaFi initiatives
  • Champion VersaFi’s mission of advancing women and gender-diverse individuals in finance

Committee Participation

  • Attend Steering Committee meetings every 6–8 weeks
  • Collaborate with other committee members and support broader Calgary chapter initiatives

Required skills / Experience

Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of professional experience (finance or related industry preferred)
  • Strong interest in mentorship, early talent development, and student engagement
  • Experience working with post-secondary institutions, student groups, or early career programs is an asset
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, volunteer-driven environment
  • Passion for advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion

Location requirement: Must be based in Calgary
