TORONTO, January 20, 2021 – The Board of Directors of Women in Capital Markets (WCM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lara Zink as WCM’s new President and CEO, effective February 1, 2021.  An accomplished business leader and top-ranked relationship manager, Lara brings more than 25 years of experience in Capital Markets. Most recently, Lara was Managing Director in Global Institutional Equity Sales at RBC Capital Markets.

We’re delighted to have Lara assume leadership of WCM at such a pivotal time in the ED&I space. Not only is Lara a trusted business leader and capital markets veteran, she has a long history of engagement with WCM, and understands the complexities and challenges our industry is facing,” said Nathalie Clark, Chair of WCM’s Board of Directors. “After an extensive search, Lara stood out among many incredible candidates as the best person for the job.”

“With Lara’s leadership, the talented WCM team already in place and the Board’s strategic guidance, WCM is well-positioned to support our sponsors and guide our industry to greater ED&I,” added Mary Vitug, Vice-Chair of WCM’s Board of Directors.

While at RBC Lara had senior coverage responsibility for over 30 institutional equity investors in Canada. Lara has been a strong advocate for ED&I throughout her career, and has extensive volunteer experience for social impact. She holds the ICD.D designation, is a member of the University of Toronto Governing Council, sits on two Foundation boards, is a member of the CAMH Campaign Cabinet, and is an active volunteer for the Special Olympics.

Under Lara’s leadership, WCM will continue to unite the industry to accelerate equity, diversity and inclusion in capital markets, and deliver research, programming and strategic value to sponsors, members and stakeholders.

The Board would also like to thank Katie Squires-Thompson for her interim leadership, and recognize the talented and dedicated staff in place at WCM, who are integral to the organization’s effectiveness and success.

We look forward to watching WCM reach new heights. Thank you to our sponsors, members and stakeholders for your continued support of WCM and our mission to create a more diverse, inclusive and equitable industry.

Sincerely,

Nathalie Clark, WCM Board Chair
